ESP: We are together with the Red Help Organisation

ISTANBUL – On 19 July 2008, the Socialist Platform of the Oppressed (ESP) has protested the imprisonment of International Red Help Organisation’s activists by Belgium state, in the action organised in front of the Belgium Consulate in Istanbul-Taksim.

The Socialist Platform of the Oppressed protested the imprisonment of activists of Red Help Organisation on 5th of July. The people at the protest openned a banner saying “Freedom to the prisoners of International Red Help (SRI)” while Ersin Sedefoglu, the ESP spokeperson read out the press statement. In the statement, Sedefoglu said “The repression and attacks on the political groups those who are struggling against the capitalist powers are continuing all over the world. As in our country, the demand for freedom becomes a reason of killings and imprisonments in all bourgeois states of the world.” Sedefoglu who recalled the raids on 5th of July stated “As we are closely aware of, the senarios of conspiracy played significant part in the operations against the Red Help. By inventing an organisation called Communist War Cells –which is not really existing- the people on the legal and democratic spheres have been accused as the militants of this organisation.” Sedefoglu emphisised that the rullers are inventing similar conspiracies everywhere.

At the end of the statement, Sedefoglu said “In Turkey, we as the revolutionary friends of Red Help condemn with hatred the raids and imprisonments”. He said that they will stand together with the SRI members against the terror of raid and imprisonment.

In the protest action, the people shouted the following slogans: “Long live international solidarity”, “Prisoners must be released” and “Unity, struggle, victory”.
